Boosting Your Children’s Education With Pawesome Apps & Tech

Cache Back to SchoolFall is just around the corner, which means the yard will soon be filled with leaves for me to roll around in (mom and dad even make them into big piles for me so I can just dive right in!), and the mini-humans are back to school.

They will not be mini-humans much longer! The oldest is now much taller than I and growls (sometimes his voice squeaks like my toy rabbit) about “homework” and “chores.” He doesn’t seem to have as much time to play with me anymore, and mom said he has “poor time management.”

I want more time to play with my humans and I also want them to succeed in school (I wonder If they get cookies like we did at obedience school for having the right answers…), so I checked the internet to see what I could find that would help my humans in school.

If you’re looking to optimize or are concerned about your mini-humans’ productivity, check out these pawesome gadgets and apps that will help get the work done—and of course leave extra time to roll around in the leaves with your four-legged pal!

Gadgets

Smart pens and smart notebooks
Smart pens and notebooks work in conjunction with apps and mobile devices to help your child take more complete notes and keep them more organized. Many smart pens are also equipped with a microphone to capture the audio and further optimize notetaking by combining the handwritten notes with the audio lecture. By tagging and organizing their notes through the app, students can study for quizzes and tests and collaborate with classmates more efficiently. My favorites are pens from Livescribe, starting at $99.95.

Bluetooth Keyboard
As classroom technology continues to advance, more work is completed on a computer, tablet or phone. A portable Bluetooth keyboard will help your child maximize their efficiency, regardless of the device they are using. I recommend the iClever Portable Foldable Bluetooth Keyboard (model #: IC-BK03), available on Amazon for $36.99.

Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Mom and dad are cooking and cleaning, the baby is crying, and I am running laps around the living room at top speed—completing homework in this environment is just impossible! Not anymore, because with a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones, your child won’t even realize what’s happening outside of their homework (until I roll around on the rug by their feet). The Mpow H5 is a great choice for quality on a budget. They outperform several headphones that run over $150, and will set you back just $49.99 on Amazon.

Apps

Flashcards Deluxe
$3.99; Available on Android & iOS
An ultimate study aid for any quiz or exam, Flashcards Deluxe allows the user to create and organize flash cards for any subject, as well as browse their online shared library of already-created flashcards. You can create flashcards on the desktop or mobile app. The flashcards have multiple themes and allow for sounds and pictures, creating a more interactive experience.

myHomework Student Planner
Basic version; Free ~ Premium version; $4.99; Available on Android, iOS, Amazon Apps
and the Chrome Web Store.
The myHomework app is the ultimate electronic student planner. Free and premium versions both allow for assignment and project tracking, class tracking, due date reminders, and upcoming assignment notifications. With the premium version, the user unlocks the abilities to attach files and share their planner, all without the ads present in the free version.

Duolingo
Free; Available on Android & iOS
Featuring 33 languages, Duolingo is a free and effective language learning app that entices learning through a more interactive process that feels like a video game. Duolingo has proven so effective, that teachers and entire governments are integrating it directly into their learning. If your child is studying a language or is simply interested in learning another one, Duolingo is one of the most effective ways to make it happen!

These are some of my favorite gadgets and apps I found in my search, but the list of gadgets and apps geared at educational development and efficiency is massive. Depending on your goals, you might find others that better suit you and your children. Hopefully I have given you a good head start to find the right ways to help mini-humans develop better study habits. That way, they’ll have more time to take me outside with a tennis ball during the delightful fall weather…

Until next time,
Your pawsitively pawesome pal Cache
